'Just proved': Petr Cech fuming with what happened at Old Trafford, despite Arsenal gain

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has been among a number of former players and pundits to react to Bruno Fernandes’ goal for Manchester United against City today.

Fernandes slotted past Ederson in the City goal but only after Marcus Rashford had appeared to be a mile offside in the build up. As he ran onto the ball, Rashford moved out of the way and allowed Fernandes to slot home instead.

However, VAR overturned the original offside decision and Old Trafford erupted before Rashford added a second to complete a fine United comeback.

Of course, the result means Arsenal can go even further clear in the title race if they beat Spurs tomorrow. But even though that’s the case, former stopper Petr Cech wasn’t having the offside call at Old Trafford today.

Cech took to Twitter to voice his concerns. And in doing so, suggested those making the laws in football don’t essentially understand the game.

Cech made over 130 appearances for Arsenal after starring for Chelsea over a number of seasons.

Clearly, Cech will want his former clubs to do well. But at the same time, it seems he wants the laws and rules of the game to be a bit fairer or different.

TBR’s View: Petr Cech is right to slam Rashford offside call

The referees haven’t done much wrong here but the law itself is baffling and has cost Man City massively.

Rashford was offside. He interfered with the play and even though he didn’t touch it, the whole move doesn’t unfold if he’s not the one making the run.
