Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has added further confirmation to Leeds United’s previous interest in their talented striker Ricky-Jade Jones.
The 17-year-old has had a breakthrough campaign with the League One side this season, featuring 16 times and scoring four goals.
The speedster is one of the Football League’s brightest talents and is being linked with a host of Premier League clubs.

But Leeds United were seemingly keen on snapping him up first. MacAnthony has been responding to fans on Twitter regarding the player. He praised Jones and compared him to Jamie Vardy before admitting there had been contact with Leeds regarding a potential deal but that Jones was not going anywhere just yet.
It backs up a previous claim from the club’s director of football Barry Fry In February. He told the Peterborough Telegraph how Leeds United felt Jones had the chance to become the next Tammy Abraham. Fry’s response was to inform Leeds that he would, therefore, be worth around £15 million, which Leeds would not be willing to pay.
For now, it is best for everyone that Jones remains with the Posh. He will play regular football at London Road and, when the time is right, the club will not stand in his way if the right big move comes his way.
Leeds United however must keep tabs on the player, and consider potentially making a switch in the future.
