Peter Schmeichel has responded during a Q&A session on Twitter when asked who he would bring to Manchester United this summer, answering with Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min – and United supporters have agreed.

Son, 27, has been a regular for Tottenham since he joined the north London club in the summer of 2015, and is regarded as one of the best attackers in English football – having scored 83 times in 220 outings, as well as creating 44 assists.

Even this season, £22million (Guardian) signing Son has netted 16 goals in 32 games – despite Spurs struggling and a change of managers between Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho.

Asked to name one player who Manchester United should sign in the upcoming window, United legend Schmeichel suggested South Korea skipper Son would be an ideal addition for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this summer.

Manchester United have been linked with moves for the likes of Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and plenty more of Europe’s best up-and-coming talent. But Son looks as though he will remain at Tottenham for the foreseeable future.

Boasting a contract until 2023, Son is a favourite at Spurs but Schmeichel wants him at United and fans of the Old Trafford club reacted to his Tweet – with many agreeing with the Danish icon.
