Peter Schmeichel seems really impressed by Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after his performance against Everton yesterday.

Spurs picked up an important 2-1 win over Sean Dyche’s side. They are now fourth in the table, just four points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal. Richarlison got a lot of praise for his performance yesterday, but Schmeichel feels Vicario was the best player on the pitch.

Peter Schmeichel praises Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario

Guglielmo Vicario joined Tottenham from Serie A side Empoli in the summer for just over £17 million (Sky Sports).

The Italian goalkeeper wasn’t by any means a popular name in the European scene. Most Spurs fans had no idea who he was, but everybody is well aware of his ability now.

Vicario has been one of the most underrated signings of the season. Not many people talk about him because he didn’t cost a fortune, but his performances have been nothing short of brilliant.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel, who knows a thing or two about goalkeeping, watched Vicario in action for Tottenham against Everton yesterday.

It’s safe to say that the Dane was very impressed.

He said on Premier League Productions: “I have to say, Vicario today is the best player on the pitch. He made a lot of good saves and that one (Arnaut Danjuma’s shot), that’s saving two points, you know?

“Sometimes you need a little bit of luck and he had it there. He played really, really well. He has been a really good signing for Tottenham.”

Vicario saved Tottenham against Everton

Tottenham will be delighted with the win yesterday, but it has to be said that Everton could’ve easily turned the game around.

The Toffees were really poor to go 2-0 down, but they were all over Spurs for a majority of the game after that. Sean Dyche’s men pushed hard and got close on several occasions, but they were denied.

Guglielmo Vicario was absolutely incredible yesterday. He made seven saves and according to SofaScore, who gave him an 8.6/10 rating, he prevented an xG of 1.23.

That, right there, saved Tottenham from dropping points, and Postecoglou owes Vicario a nice little present for Christmas now.
