Peter Schmeichel took to Twitter to express his dismay after Tottenham Hotspur had a goal disallowed during their 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men appeared to be heading for three points at the King Power Stadium. Harry Kane had given the visitors the lead during the first-half, and Serge Aurier found the back of the net after the break.

However, Aurier’s effort was checked by VAR and subsequently ruled out. It turned out that the officials deemed that Son Heung-min had been offside by the barest of margins. It was a remarkable decision, and it was one that cost Tottenham as Leicester went on to score twice.
And Schmeichel – whose son, of course, was beaten by the Spurs right-back – suggested on Twitter that Tottenham had been hard done by.

Here is Schmeichel’s comments…
It is difficult not to have sympathy for Spurs. Tottenham did not score because of an obvious mistake from the officials. And those using VAR had to work incredibly hard to come to the conclusion that Son had been offside.
Pochettino’s men cannot blame VAR completely for their inability to see out the game. But they certainly have reason to feel a sense of injustice after their goal was ruled out in such controversial circumstances.
