Peter Lovenkrands was full of praise for Rangers centre-forward Alfredo Morelos after his performance last night in the Europa League.
The Gers beat Belgian opposition Royal Antwerp 5-2 at at Ibrox to qualify for the Europa League last 16, with the draw taking place on Friday.
Steven Gerrard’s side beat Antwerp by a crazy 9-5 aggregate scoreline across the two legs and continue their fine European run, which coincides with them storming towards a league title.
Lovenkrands singled out Morelos for huge credit after his impact on the European stage.
The 24-year-old opened the scoring on the night with a simple finish to capitalise on a mistake, plus he laid on two assists and also drew a foul to win a penalty.
“That’s Morelos on two assists tonight, the way he peeled off the defender to work the space, excellent from him. We spoke about it earlier, he has that in his locker now to contribute assists,” Lovenkrands said, as quoted by BBC Sport.
If Morelos is in the mood, there won’t be many defenders around that can’t handle him.
The Colombian forward was at the heart of everything Rangers did going forward and stepped up in the Europa League.
His combination in the final third with the likes of Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent can be explosive at times, which is why manager Gerrard will surely be hoping they can continue in the same kind of attacking form going into the next stage of the competition.
He now has 13 goals and 11 assists in 33 games across all competitions so far this season.
