Peter Crouch thinks Mo Salah is still undervalued at Liverpool

Former Liverpool striker, Peter Crouch, believes the Reds need to appreciate just how good Mo Salah is, after the forward reached 100 Premier League goals this weekend.

Salah became the quickest Liverpool player to achieve such a feat and in truth, it will take some beating for whoever fancies a go at it next.

But rather than be applauded by the masses, Crouch still feels that Salah is undervalued in some respects. The former England man, writing for the Daily Mail, believes Salah should have more respect on his name.

“Salah is a phenomenon, with Thierry Henry and Sergio Aguero the only foreign imports to have reached the landmark in fewer games.

Yet there is still that feeling of under-appreciation and I cannot put my finger on why. Maybe it is because the eye-popping numbers he produces every season have become the norm,” Crouch said.

Comparisons

Speaking passionately on the subject of Salah, Crouch went on to suggest that he’s better than former Reds strikers, Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez.

“Compare him to Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez for a moment. They are almost held in higher esteem — and are deemed more special — by supporters. But he has a record that eclipses them easily,” Crouch added.

“It is reaching the stage where you look at what he is doing and have to come to the conclusion that he is a modern-day great. Salah walks into the right-hand side of Liverpool’s best-ever XI. He has that position sewn up.”

TBR’s View: Salah is world-class, Liverpool have to tie him down

Crouch alludes to this in his own column but Liverpool simply have to get Mo Salah tied down to fresh terms. And if he wants big money, then just pay it.

He is just so good. Every game he looks like he is going to score. And near enough every game, he does score. His record is quite frightening.

Not many players can get away with being called a phenomenon. But Salah is deserving of such praise, and rightly gets the plaudits off Crouch here.
