There are two weeks left in the transfer window, and there’s going to be movement at Liverpool.

The Reds åre yet to make a signing this summer, while there are also a few players who could still leave.

News broke on Saturday morning that Joe Gomez is assessing his transfer options, and speaking on TNT Sports, (17/8/24 11:45AM), Peter Crouch has reacted to the news that Gomez is looking to leave.

Peter Crouch surprised by Joe Gomez news

Crouch shared his verdict after the news about Gomez broke.

“Just a bit of news out of Liverpool, Paul Joyce from The Times is reporting that Joe Gomez has been left out of the Liverpool squad because he’s exploring transfer options, are you surprised by that Peter?” Crouch was asked.

“A little bit yeah. I just think he’s a great man to have around the squad. He’s never let the team down,” Crouch said.

“You look at the injuries last year and players like that had to come in and cover the first-team players if you like. He’s given a great account of himself at Liverpool, so maybe it’s his choice to move on.”

Joe Gomez departure is surprising

It is a shock to hear that Gomez is looking to leave Liverpool.

The defender got back into the England squad this summer off the back of a strong season at Liverpool.

His versatility at full-back and centre-back proved to be vital last season, and he would surely have a part to play at Anfield if he stayed this term.

Gomez seemingly wants to play first-team football on a regular basis in his favoured position, and he’s not going to be afforded that luxury at Liverpool.

Chelsea are said to be interested in Gomez, and it does sound as though the defender could be on the move before deadline day.
