Peter Crouch has explained that the main difference for Tottenham on Tuesday night was the amount of attacking runners they had beyond striker Harry Kane.
Spurs impressed during a 5-0 demolition of Red Star Belgrade in the European win, which got their Champions League group stage campaign back on track.
Mauricio Pochettino’s struggles this season have been well documented and there has been a lot of negativity after a number of concerning results.
But they looked back to their fluent best against Red Star and will need to continue that for a daunting trip to Liverpool at the weekend in the Premier League.
Ex-Spurs striker Crouch believes that biggest improvement for his former side against Red Star was their movement in the final third.
They struggled in the 1-1 league draw at the weekend against bottom of the table Watford, but were far more lively on the Champions League stage.
He praised the trio of Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela for their support of Kane in attack.
“What we saw today is what we haven’t seen from Tottenham for most of the season really it was runners. It was people running off Harry Kane and it happened all night. They (Son, Lamela and Alli) were all getting beyond Kane and it was something we haven’t seen this season,” Crouch said on BT Sport 3 (10:10pm, 22 October).

TBR’s View:
Spurs did look far more like the team Pochettino has built in terms of their attacking play against Red Star and there was a lot more bite in their game.
They are someone that have become a nuisance to opponents with their high intensity and it’s something they have lacked this season, but it showed in Europe and they will need it again against Liverpool.
Son’s inclusion in the team was a real bonus in terms of movement in attack and he scored twice, while Alli appears to be rediscovering some form after an injury.
Kane chipped in with two goals too and was roaming all over the pitch, plus Lamela get on the scoresheet in his 200th Spurs appearance and is a favourite of the manager.
