Peter Crouch has warned Christian Eriksen about potentially leaving Tottenham and claimed it wouldn’t guarantee success.
The attacking midfielder has previously told Ekstrabladet in an interview that he may want to experience a new challenge elsewhere.
He has just one year remaining on his contract with Spurs and teams could technically still try swoop for him this month with the European window open.
The Guardian previously reported that Eriksen wants a move to Real Madrid, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid also keen on swooping for him.
It is understood that Manchester United also held talks for the 27-year-old.
Ex-Spurs striker Crouch has discussed whether the creative playmaker could be a hit if he moves to Madrid and claimed it wouldn’t be a foregone conclusion.
“But as he (Eriksen) has shown no indication that he will sign a new contract, you cannot rule out the idea that Tottenham will sell him before the window closes. Real Madrid is the club he wants to join but I wonder whether it would suit him,” Crouch wrote in the Daily Mail.
“I moved many times during my career and you realise occasionally the grass isn’t always greener. Would Madrid suit him? He wouldn’t be the main man there and could end up lost. Eriksen is talented and professional but that doesn’t guarantee anything in Madrid. Look at Gareth Bale.”

TBR’s View:
Spurs fans face an anxious wait while the transfer window remains open and it would hardly be a major surprise if Eriksen did exit, but at the same time he’s on their books for now and still impacting game.
He came off the bench to help inspire a win over Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if manager Mauricio Pochettino recalls him to the starting XI against Manchester City on Saturday evening.
Eriksen certainly is one of the talisman in North London, but would become a small fish in a big pond if he did end up rubbing shoulders alongside the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in the Madrid midfield.
