Liverpool produced one of the best comebacks in Champions League football to date by beating Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield, and Trent Alexander-Arnold has received praise from all over the globe.
The 20-year-old right-back shone once again as Jurgen Klopp’s patched-up side did the unthinkable and overturned Barca’s 3-0 lead from the first leg. Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi both scored a brace.
It means the Reds have qualified for the Champions League final for the second time in two years, and will face either Tottenham Hotspur of Ajax. Jordan Henderson, Alisson and more all shone for Klopp’s side.
But it was Alexander-Arnold’s quick thinking from a corner that saw Origi score the winning goal, as he slipped a low cross into the box while the Barcelona players were preparing to defend.
Ryan Babel and Peter Crouch have applauded the young England defender on Twitter.
Clever Trend ??????????

How old is @trentaa98 ? That was a joke.

Crouch makes an excellent point. Alexander-Arnold, at just 20 years of age, has embarrassed the best club in World football by making a mockery of their defensive set-up from a corner.
From Barcelona’s point of view, it is absolutely appalling. Schoolboy error. Pique should be organising his defence the second the ball goes out of play, not waiting for his players to walk back.
But take nothing away from Alexander-Arnold. A genius bit of quick thinking and perfectly executed – and well finished by Origi, too.
