Peter Bosz says Arsenal-linked Houssem Aouar can leave Lyon this summer
In a repeat of the summer of 2020, it looks like Arsenal are free to sign Lyon midfielder, Houssem Aouar, should they wish to finally make their move.
Aouar was linked with a mega-money move to the Gunners throughout last summer but ended up staying put. Back then, talk of over £50m was doing the rounds among different media outlets.
However, reports recently have suggested Aouar could now be sold for as little as £25m, prompting the likes of Spurs and Arsenal to be interested again.
And speaking to Maxifoot, Aouar’s coach at Lyon, Peter Bosz, has confirmed that Aouar can go for the right money.
“He can leave, that’s modern football. Until the last moment, he can leave,” Bosz said.
Arsenal are very much still in the hunt for a new midfielder. The Gunners have looked at James Maddison, Sander Berge, and Martin Odegaard this summer, but as yet, have only landed Albert Lokonga.
Long-running saga
There was a point in time where Arsenal would have snapped Lyon’s hands off for Aouar. And that would have been at any price.
It is strange, then, that this deal is stuttering. Lyon clearly want Aouar to go and for them to get some money in the bank. But there seems to be something holding the deal back.
Whether that is Arsenal having new targets, or Aouar maybe not quite doing as well in the last 12 months. But, the Frenchman is certainly a talent, and if the Gunners are struggling for additions, then at £25m, they have to move for Aouar.
