‘Perfect fit’: Sporting Lisbon boss says he has the ideal man to mark Tottenham’s ‘fastest player’ - but he's injured

Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim says he has the ideal man to mark Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘fastest player’ Heung-Min Son, but he’s injured.

Spurs have travelled to Lisbon to face Amorim’s men in their second game of the Champions League group stage.

Both sides got off to winning starts as Sporting beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 and Conte’s men ran out 2-0 winners over Marseille.

Sporting centre-back Jeremiah St. Juste came off injured against Frankfurt and Amorim feels he would have been the ideal man to mark Son.

Sporting boss has ideal man to mark Tottenham’s ‘fastest player’

Speaking to Sporting’s official website, the Portuguese manager confirmed that St. Juste will not be available to play against Spurs tonight

And it seems that the player would have been marking Son, if he was available.

“We lost St. Juste, who is our fastest player and perhaps the perfect fit for marking Tottenham’s fastest player, Son,” Armorim said.

“Neto is experienced, and we also lost him. We will have others come in. Gonçalo Inácio could be an option, as well as Ricardo Esgaio.”

“The opposition will make the game very difficult for us. If Tottenham Hotspur score first, it will be very tough because they are good with the ball, can build play and are good at waiting for a team and making transitions.

“We have to be careful with our buildup and not change our identity”.

Son has been below his usual high standards so far this season and has failed to score in his first seven appearances.

But the winger did force Chancel Mbemba into making a red-card challenge last time out.

It will be interesting to see if Conte sticks with Son for tonight’s game, with Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski performing well last Wednesday.
