Pepe Reina applauds Aston Villa player on Instagram after landmark achieved
Tyrone Mings has posted on Instagram after he clocked up his 150th league appearance during Aston Villa’s 3-1 win over Fulham on Sunday – and Pepe Reina applauded the left-footed England defender.
Mings, 28, has been through numerous injuries and setbacks throughout his career and had only played 86 times at senior level before he joined Aston Villa on loan in January 2019. Since then, he has become a regular for Villa.
Clocking up 83 league and cup appearances for the Midlands side in the space of just over two years, Mings has forced his way into the England reckoning and is closing in on 100 games for Dean Smith’s men.
Though he would have liked to have reached the landmark at a much younger age, Mings posted on Instagram to underline his delight at clocking up 150 league outings. In total, he has played 169 times in all competitions.
One of the club’s highest earners on £80,000 a week (Spotrac), Mings has certainly shown his importance and improved enormously at Villa – perhaps thanks to the guidance of assistant coach John Terry.
His improvement is such that he is likely to be one of the names on the England list ahead of Euro 2020 this summer. Reina, who played alongside Mings last season on loan, applauded the ex-Ipswich and Bournemouth man.
