Liverpool take on Chelsea in this weekend’s League Cup final as they look to bring home the first trophy of the season in the Wembley showpiece.

The Reds are still in all four competitions and have found themselves firmly back in the title race in recent weeks. On European soil, they look as brilliant as ever and are one of the favourites for the Champions League again.

However, injuries are starting to bite and in recent weeks, the Reds have had to do without the likes of Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino for some games. And while Firmino will miss the Wembley clash with Chelsea, Liverpool assist, Pep Ljinders, has hinted there is a chance that Diogo Jota might make it.

“Bobby, we have to see in the next two days. He will not be available. We hope he will be back soon. Jota… so far no reaction on the things he did. That’s a good sign. He isn’t ruled out, but it will still be a challenge,” Ljinders said in his press conference today.

Jota has been a key man for Liverpool all season. Dubbed a ‘really incredible’ talent by Jurgen Klopp, the former Wolves man’s importance cannot be underestimated.

TBR’s View: Jota Return A Huge Boost For Liverpool

Even if he can just make the bench, the fact Jota is going to be fit soon enough is a boost in itself. Luis Diaz has done brilliantly in his place, but Jota brings the goals as he has all season.

For the final against Chelsea, Jota would make a difference. But beyond that, his role is going to be even more crucial.

Liverpool face a huge few months in the run-in and need all their best players fit. Jota is one of those best players, so having him back this weekend will give Klopp and Ljinders huge cause for optimism.
