Pep Guardiola has given his verdict in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after Tottenham appointed Antonio Conte as manager.
Conte, 52, has penned an 18-month deal with the option of a further year at Tottenham. It is just over 24 hours after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked.
It sees Tottenham, Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici correct the failed pursuit of Conte in the summer. Nuno was hired instead, arguably sixth choice.
Conte is now expected to take charge on Thursday in the Europa Conference League against Vitesse. He could take training on Tuesday.
Speaking in his latest City press conference ahead of a clash against Club Brugge, Guardiola gave his verdict on Tottenham appointing Conte.
“First of all to come back to England his career speaks for itself. He had success everywhere. An outstanding manager,” Guardiola told MEN.

Guardiola on Conte: What must Italian do first at Tottenham?
There are a number of things Conte has got to sort, before we even hit the January window. Firstly, the future and issues surrounding Harry Kane.
Does he really want to be at Spurs? If so, why is he playing like he does not want to be? Is there a hangover after his failed move to Guardiola’s side?
Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn, Tanguy Ndombele, Matt Doherty and Harry Winks are all struggling for form – can Conte get them firing again?
Also, Conte will need to decide which players he can trust – leaders that deserve a place in the side. Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier, perhaps.
What is for sure, Conte will have the backing of all Tottenham fans – unlike Nuno, who was fighting a losing battle as soon as he joined.
