Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz was spoken about by Pep Guardiola ahead of the Villans’ weekend clash with Manchester City.
The midfielder joined Villa this summer from City in a deal reported to be worth £15 million (BBC Sport).
It is on record that Guardiola never wanted Luiz to leave the Etihad Stadium, but the Spaniard was powerless to prevent his exit due to work permit issues that stopped him from playing.

Clearly he rates the 21-year-old very highly, and Villa fans might be concerned about one comment in particular the tactician made in his Friday press conference.
“He would be here if a work permit were possible if the Premier League said it would be possible but now he is at Aston Villa,” he said (Manchester Evening News).
“We have an option to get him back but sometimes life is like this. We wanted him because last season we had problems in that position because we didn’t buy a holding midfielder.
TBR’s view – Luiz’s card is already marked
The fact Guardiola rates Luiz’s ability so highly would suggest the club have a very talented player on their hands.

Perhaps there will come a time in the future when the Spaniard will re-sign the South American – his comment suggests City may well have a buy-back option of some kind.
For now though, Villa fans will hope he can become a regular in their side for as long as possible and realise his exciting potential.
