Birmingham City manager Pep Clotet believes Jude Bellingham will make a sensible decision about his future, The Birmingham Mail reports.
Bellingham has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks. According to The Telegraph, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bournemouth have all been scouting the talented teen.
The 16-year-old has also been linked with Bayern Munich this season (as per The Sun). This comes as no surprise to Clotet, who rates his young midfielder very highly.
Bellingham has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season, playing 17 games and scoring twice. He is defying his age and he is tipped to go to the very top. But Clotet believes Bellingham knows that Birmingham is the best fit for now.
Clotet on Bellingham
Addressing the Bellingham rumours, Clotet said (via The Birmingham Mail): “You know what I would like, I would like every club in the world to come for Jude Bellingham, I would love to be in that position and love him to be in that position.
“And I know that he understands how good it is for him and for his development to keep playing at Birmingham and if he does leave do it on his terms in his moment. I am not worried when our players are wanted by everyone – I like that.”
Bellingham needs to make a very careful decision if these clubs firm up their interest in January. Obviously, the chance to play for a big Premier League club will be tempting. But that needs to be weighed up against his development.
At Birmingham, the England U17 starlet is playing every week in the Championship. This is turning him into an exciting talent for the future so he should bide his time before making a big move.
