Pep Clotet loved his time at Leeds United but will be plotting Elland Road downfall this weekend

The Spaniard clearly loved his time as assistant manager at Elland Road.

Leeds United take on Birmingham City at the weekend and will be facing off against a familiar face when they do so.

Pep Clotet is the manager at St Andrew’s and will undoubtedly be hoping to get the better of his former club.

Garry Monk brought his old Swansea City buddy to Elland Road in June 2016. Clotet went on to stay at the club after Monk’s departure but soon moved on after the arrival of Thomas Christiansen.

Since then he had a disappointing spell in charge of Oxford United before rejoining Monk at Birmingham City in March 2018. When Monk was sacked in June, Clotet was handed the reins at the Championship side.

Clotet was always complimentary of Leeds United as a club and the fanbase in West Yorkshire during his time at Elland Road.

When he left in 2017, he praised the club on Twitter and stated he would ‘never forget’ his time at Leeds.

The squad has changed a lot since Clotet left but the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Luke Ayling, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, and Gaetano Berardi can expect a warm welcome from their former assistant at the weekend. But Leeds fans will hope it is not a happy homecoming for the Spaniard.
