'Embarrassing', 'God please no': Some Everton fans react to links with 'best coach in the world'; finished sixth last season

Some Everton fans were reacting after a report emerged linking the club with Manuel Pellegrini.

According to Daily Mail, Pellegrini is a contender to become Blues manager. The Real Betis manager was contacted by intermediaries over the role.

Pellegrini was contacted by Fahad Moshiri over the Everton job back in 2016 when Roberto Martinez was sacked.

He enjoyed a shock sixth-placed finish in La Liga last season, finishing in the Europa League places. The outfit picked up 20 more points last term than in the campaign beforehand.

Other names for the role include Christophe Galtier, Graham Potter and Roberto Martinez.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

He was once described as the ‘best coach in the world‘ by Rodolfo Arruabarrena.

TBR View: Pellegrini appointment would be a backwards step for Everton

Pellegrini had been a brilliant manager over the course of his time with Manchester City.

However, he had the pleasure of managing the likes of David Silva and Sergio Aguero. The Blues don’t possess world-class talent and need to undergo a massive overhaul.

Then there’s his failure with West Ham, where he was sacked by the east London outfit.

Appointing Pellegrini at Everton would be a horrible decision especially with the club needing a long-term solution.

The Chilean doesn’t prove to be a long-term manager, having failed to stay at any of his previous clubs for more than five years.
