Pedro stepped up and showed his worth to the team
The Spaniard was recalled back into the first eleven on Sunday and it was a decision that paid off for Antonio Conte. Eden Hazard was being marked out of the game by a determined Idrissa Gueye and it looked like Chelsea were going to be held by Everton until the mid-point of the second-half.
Pedro got the ball on the edge of the area and turned Phil Jagielka before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner. It was an incredible piece of individual skill and to perform it at some a crucial stage of the season is impressive.
This season has been one of redemption for the Spanish winger as many wrote him off after his first year at Stamford Bridge. It was difficult for everyone at the club last season and the former Barcelona man found it difficult to play his best football.
During the summer, it was clear that Conte was impressed by Pedro and the 29-year-old has established himself as a first-team regular. He is ahead of last season’s Player of the Year, Willian, and has consistently chipped in with key goals. Against Everton, Diego Costa and Eden Hazard both struggled, but Pedro stepped up and showed just how important he is to the team.
