A number of Celtic fans have given their thoughts on the Sky Sports report claiming the Hoops are trying to sign Ben Davies in the January transfer window.
The Bhoys were first linked with the 25-year-old last summer as his contract at the English club entered its final 12 months.
With Davies’ contract now in its final six months, the player is free to speak to non-English clubs about signing for free once his current deal expires.
According to Sky Sports, talks between Celtic and the player are said to be progressing well and at an advanced stage.
The report originally talked about Davies signing a pre-contract agreement for the summer, but now it looks as though the Hoops are looking to snap him up this month.
Preston are said to be looking for a fee of between £2million and £2.5million from Celtic for Davies, having quoted £3million to Bournemouth, who are also reportedly keen on the player.
Here is what some Hoops fans on social media have made of the speculation and this latest reported development:
Spending 2.5 million to get him now, for a series of dead rubbers, when we wouldn’t spend 2.5million on Mcginn would be peak Peter-nomics.

I’ll reserve judgement for now. The last no nonsense centre half we signed from England was an absolute disaster

Davies, a left-footed centre-back who can also play at left-back, is a product of Preston’s academy.
He enjoyed numerous loan spells in the EFL prior to breaking into the Lilywhites’ first-team on a regular basis during the 2017-18 season.
Davies has played 18 games in the Championship this season, with Alex Neil’s side currently six points adrift of the playoff places.
