Jamie O’Hara has urged Arsenal to try sign Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier after a dreadful start to the new Premier League season.
The Gunners suffered a 2-0 away loss on Friday night against newly-promoted side Brentford, who were ended a 74-year absence from the top flight in style.
Sergi Canos opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half with a powerful low finish. Christian Norgaard then doubled the advantage in the second half with his header, but serious question marks will be raised defensively after it came from a long throw-in.
Mikel Arteta’s side have a daunting double header now against Chelsea and Manchester City, so it’s a horrible start to the season for them.
Pundit O’Hara was not impressed with the north London club’s display last night. He’s adamant they need to spend more before the window shuts. For instance, he claims Atletico defender Trippier would be ideal.
According to The Sun earlier in August, Arsenal have sounded out Atletico over a possible move for the England international. The report says he’s a £34million-rated right-back and any offer would need to be in excess of £20million.
“They should sign Kieran Tripper, pay whatever they want – even if it is £30million,” O’Hara told talkSPORT last night.
“PSG need to get rid of some players; go and get Mauro Icardi up front and then go and get Ander Herrera in midfield!”

Trippier would be a start for Arsenal
Just looking at Arsenal’s squad on paper you can see they still need a few more quality signings before the end of August.
Trippier, 30, is an experienced full-back that would be an immediate upgrade at right-back.
The La Liga title winner has great experience in English football from his time with the likes of Burnley and Tottenham. Also, he’s one of the players that started the Euro 2020 final this summer for England.
It may be a turbulent opening few games for Arteta and a couple of signings feels essential.
