Paulo Gazzaniga urges Jose Mourinho to sign Boca Juniors midfielder for Tottenham
Paulo Gazzaniga has told Argentine outlet TYC Sports that if he was to suggest a player to Jose Mourinho for Tottenham Hotspur to sign, he would suggest Boca Juniors midfielder Jorman Campuzano.
Campuzano, 23, is a two-time Colombia international that has become renowned for his array of passing at the base of the Boca midfielder. He has broken into the senior side of the Argentine giants, clocking up 33 appearances.
Not only that, but Campuzano is also what you would expect from a South American midfielder. Standing at just 5ft 7in, he is somewhat aggressive and has excellent stamina. He has started all six of Boa’s six consecutive wins, conceding only once.
Asked who Tottenham should sign this summer, Gazzaniga responded by stating that if he had to pick one player for Mourinho to sign, it would be Campuzano – with Gzzaniga renowned for being a big fan of the north London club.
“If Mourinho asks me for a reinforcement of Argentine soccer, I tell him to bring Jorman Campuzano,” Gazzaniga said.
TBR’s view – Do Tottenham need another central midfielder?
On the face of it, probably not, given the quantity of central midfielders. However, delving deeper into the situation, and Mourinho may look to lure a central midfielder to north London in the summer.
Tanguy Ndombele has been linked with a move, after failing to impress Mourinho. Oliver Skipp may go on loan, Eric Dier has been moved into defence and Moussa Sissoko has spent the second half of the season in the physio room.
Campuzano is unproven at the top level but given the recommendation of Gazzaniga, he could be a good signing.
