'This guy...': Paulo Di Canio slams Tottenham loanee who 'doesn't want to sacrifice himself'
Former Sheffield Wednesday and Celtic striker, Paulo Di Canio, has hit out at Tottenham loanee Tanguy Ndombele.
Ndombele was an unused sub as Napoli absolutely battered Liverpool in the Champions League this week. The Frenchman seems to have already slipped into a role on the outskirts of the first-team, just weeks after moving to the club from Spurs.
And speaking on Italian TV, as relayed by Calcio Napoli, former Premier League ace Paulo Di Canio used his opportunity to hit out at Ndombele’s attitude.
“If Spalletti works a miracle, I will take my hat off. This guy doesn’t want to sacrifice himself without the ball. I don’t expect him to walk on water, but if he at least swam it’d be a resounding success,” Di Canio said (Calcio Napoli)
Of course, criticism of Ndombele is nothing brand new. The midfielder struggled massively at Spurs and is widely seen as one of those players who has all the talent in the world and no will to use it. Clearly, it looks like he is already on a slippery slope in Naples.
TBR’s View: Ndombele A Waste Of Talent
We see this so much in football through the years but Tanguy Ndombele really could do so much more. The talent is there in terms of natural ability, it’s just that he doesn’t seem to want to work at anything.
Tottenham tried with different managers and they all failed while over in Italy, he already appears to be finding himself out of favour.
Before long, Ndombele will find himself without a club at all and everyone will look back on one of the most wasted transfers in British footballing history.
