Paul Robinson has told Stadium Astro that Leeds United need to make four signings in January, if Marcelo Bielsa’s side are to avoid relegation this term.
Leeds suffered a fifth defeat of the season on Sunday as Antonio Conte masterminded a comeback win – despite Dan James opening the scoring.
It was the Wales international’s first goal for Leeds since his £25million move from Manchester United. But Spurs came from behind to win.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg equalised after a cut-back from Lucas Moura, before Sergio Reguilon tapped in the winner after Eric Dier hit the post.
The defeat sees Leeds sit in 17th place, with only 11 points from 12 games. Relegation is a real threat for the Whites – and Robinson has responded.
“In my opinion, they need an experienced goalkeeper a back-up,” Robinson said. “Meslier is outstanding, Klaesson is not proven.

“If Meslier does get injured, it is a big risk. They need cover for Kalvin Phillips, a defensive midfielder. They need a central midfielder, too.
“They also need cover for Patrick Bamford up front. They have to go and get that in the market in January if they want to survive in the league.”
Robinson on January: Leeds will not spend big, but what do they need?
Four new signings in January is incredibly unrealistic. But one or two might come in to solidify the Whites – with the league position a concern.
Cover for Patrick Bamford has to be up there. Tyler Roberts has scored one goal in 40 games in the Premier League. Rodrigo is in and out of injury.
Joe Gelhardt is a real talent but can Leeds rely on him to fire them away from the drop zone – if Bamford fails to shake off his ankle problem?
No. So, a new striker is needed. Kalvin Phillips cover is also crucial because no one at Leeds can play like Phillips in the Leeds squad.
If Leeds are to make two signings, a defensive midfielder and a striker is crucial for the Whites.
