Paul Miller reckons Tottenham duo will remain at the club this summer

Paul Miller has told Love Sport Radio that he believes Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld will remain at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the summer transfer window.

Eriksen has been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Daily Mirror claim the Dane is worth an enormous £130million, and a move could materialise given that the playmaker.

Toby Alderweireld signed a new contract with the north Londoners, but that deal has only seen him extend his stay at Spurs until the summer of 2020. It has also seen a £25million exit clause inserted into his contract.

More than £150million of combined talent, but former Spurs star Miller believes that Eriksen will ignore interest from Real Madrid, and Alderweireld will choose Spurs over Manchester United.

“There is talk of Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld leaving but I don’t think they will,” Miller said. “Where are they going to go and better themselves unless they went to Manchester United, Barcelona or Real Madrid?

“They aren’t going to go anywhere better. The rumours linking Eriksen with Madrid are all crap. Christian is very close with Harry [Kane] and so are both of their partners. So I don’t see Christian leaving at all.”

TBR’s view

The likelihood that either Alderweireld or Eriksen remain at Spurs is hugely unlikely. Eriksen’s form has dipped and he seems to be counting down the days until the summer.

Alderweireld is still churning out some top performances, but given that his release clause stands at just £25million, surely Manchester United will be able to lure him away from Spurs.

Keeping both players will be an enormous boost for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. But the chances they will be keeping the duo remain slim.
