Paul Merson has raved about the ability of Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and is surprised that teams aren’t lining up to sign him in January.
The 24-year-old has been in brilliant individual form this season for the Midlands club and has seen his reputation continue to rise.
After helping the club earn promotion from the Championship last season, he’s made a smooth transition back to the Premier League and is impressing on a weekly basis.
The attacking midfielder is a driving force for the team with his goal threat, dribbling and leadership.
Merson believes that the in-form playmaker is one of the strongest in the division right now and feels he could play at a higher level.
“He is one of the top ten players in the Premier League right now. He is absolutely different class and would walk into almost any other Premier League team,” Merson wrote for the Daily Star.
“I can’t explain to people how good this kid is. His composure is something else. I don’t understand why clubs aren’t queuing up to try and sign him.”
Grealish is clearly the outstanding talent at Villa and surely they wouldn’t let him leave midway through the season when they are in a tough relegation battle.
They sit 18th in the table ahead of their trip to Brighton on Saturday and they will need their talisman on top of his game.
Grealish has played in 23 games across all competitions this campaign, scoring eight goals and supplying six assists in return.
The attacking midfielder is surely on the brink of a senior England call-up given his performances this season
