Aston Villa are flying high at present, sitting pretty in the Premier League’s top four and in a great position to progress in the Champions League.
Monchi and Unai Emery have formed a dream team at Villa Park, with the former pulling off multiple masterstrokes in the market and the latter getting the best out of them on the pitch.
Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres, Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen and Morgan Rogers are just some of the top-tier players who have joined the Villans over the past few transfer windows.
Now, Aston Villa cult hero Paul Merson has singled out one of the aforementioned players for praise, though he also issued several words of warning.

Paul Merson warns Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers that opponents will ‘work him out’
The player in question is Morgan Rogers, who has been a revelation for Villa since making the move from Middlesbrough in February.
Rogers has been instrumental for the Villans this season, starting all of their games except for the Carabao Cup win over Wycombe.
The 22-year-old has registered two goals and three assists in 11 Villa games this season, and was in red-hot form against Bologna in midweek.
Merson said on Sky Sports: “Aston Villa are top of their mini-league. You’ve got the top three, and they are in the next group.
“Unai Emery is a top manager and you can see that by the way he improves players. Morgan Rogers was always going to be a good player, and he’s done brilliantly so far.
“Sometimes it’s easier to play in a Premier League team, surrounded by good players, and there’s less blood and thunder like the Championship.
“He’ll have to start coming up with solutions soon because he’s getting a reputation, and opposition teams will work him out.
“I don’t think you put him in the [senior] England set-up yet because he’s not better than what we’ve got. But in the future, yes.”

Aston Villa struck gold by signing Morgan Rogers
Aston Villa paid just £15million to sign Rogers from Middlesbrough after he shone in the Championship.
That fee was a bargain then, but now it looks almost like a steal, considering how well he has done.
Darren Bent believes Rogers is as talented as Cole Palmer, while Jamie Redknapp has compared the Villa ace to Jude Bellingham.
Villa have well and truly struck gold by signing Rogers, a player who looks like he’ll become one of the club’s stars of the future.
Merson is correct to warn him that he’ll need to be ahead of the curve as opponents figure out ways to nullify his game, but with Emery in charge, there’s no doubt he’ll already be on the case.
