Paul Merson thinks one Spurs player could improve massively under Antonio Conte

A new era has begun at Spurs as Antonio Conte, one of the best managers in world football, has taken the Tottenham reins.

Spurs began the season well under Nuno Espirito Santo but things went pear-shared after the September international break.

This culminated in Spurs parting company with Nuno and bringing Conte in as his replacement.

The Italian has managed some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, as well as the Italy national team.

And he has won a Premier League title, three Serie A championships – including the 2020-21 Scudetto – and an FA Cup.

One of the main issues Spurs have had this season is Harry Kane’s relatively poor form in front of goal

The Tottenham talisman only has one Premier League goal to his name, though he has scored seven times in all competitions.

However, Paul Merson reckons Conte could get Kane firing on all cylinders once again, citing his impressive work with Romelu Lukaku at Inter.

“Antonio Conte’s a winner and he’s going to make Tottenham Hotspur a better team,” he wrote on Sportskeeda.

“They scored three goals against Vitesse yesterday and I think they’ll start finding the back of the net more often in the Premier League as well.

“Conte worked wonders with Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan, and he could get the best out of Harry Kane this season.”

Spurs are in Premier League action against Everton this weekend.
