Paul Merson believes Liverpool midfielder Fabinho doesn’t always get the credit he deserves.
The Brazilian has been one of the Reds’ most important players since he joined them from Monaco back in 2018. He has played an integral part in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side win the Premier League and Champions League over the years, but this season, he has been overlooked at times.

Paul Merson thinks Fabinho’s good work in Liverpool’s midfield often ‘goes unnoticed’
Before the start of the season, almost every Liverpool fan would’ve thought Fabinho is one of the first names on the team sheet every time.
However, Klopp has left him out of the side on a few occasions this season. The games against Manchester United and Arsenal come to mind – the Reds lost both fixtures.
Merson is a big fan of Fabinho. He thinks the Brazilian is integral to Liverpool’s success, but also claimed that all the good work he does in the middle of the park often goes unnoticed.
The pundit wrote in his column on Sportskeeda: “Fabinho has played a lot of matches this season. I do like him, and I’m not sure what the problem is there.
“If Liverpool are to be a success, they need him at their best.
“A lot of what he does goes unnoticed. If you’ve watched Liverpool over the years, you’ll know that the midfield three made everything happen. They’re struggling without a settled midfield.”

TBR View:
Fabinho is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and on his day, you just can’t get past him.
The Brazilian is solid on the ball and is very good with his passing, but his positioning and the way he senses danger to help his side out is just brilliant.
Fabinho, branded as an ‘incredible’ player by Jordan Henderson, started the game against Ajax midweek and also the one against Nottingham Forest last weekend. The Reds take on Leeds United next, and we think he’ll get a nod once again.
Liverpool fans will be hoping the Brazilian’s positional sense will help break play up as Leeds are a really dangerous side in transition.
