Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has talked up Leicester City’s chances of catching Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
Merson feels that Leicester deserve more respect in the context of the discussion over the destination of the trophy Liverpool covet so desperately.
He said: “We’ve all been a little bit disrespectful to Leicester recently. Every time we talk about the title race, we say it’s over because Manchester City are 14 points behind. You’ve got to start paying attention to Leicester.
“If they can go to Etihad and get a result next week then it’s game on because they still have Liverpool to play at home and Liverpool still have to go to Manchester City, who will get better as the season goes on. I’m not saying Leicester will win the Premier League but Leicester will chase them all of the way.”

TBR’s View – Leicester must draw on title-winning experience
Liverpool may be champions of Europe but Leicester have won the league far more recently. The advantage of that is two-fold.
Firstly, there isn’t that same absolute desperation at the King Power Stadium to lift the title. At Anfield, it’s so intense and may become crippling as the pressure builds in the title race.
Secondly, Leicester remained serene and actually cruised to the 2016 title in the end. They’ve shown they can manage the pressure.
Liverpool’s lead looks enormous right now and they are just not dropping points. But they faltered over the festive period last season and their fixtures are piling up, so Merson is right to talk up Leicester’s hopes.
