Pundit Paul Merson has now sent a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans in wake of their late defeat against Wolves yesterday.

Merson has been engaging in a bit of back and forth with Tottenham fans since the game against Chelsea on Monday.

And the pundit took to X yesterday to share a five-word message to Spurs fans.

Merson simply posted: “Spurs fans don’t @ me.”

And whilst Paul Merson may be enjoying Tottenham’s momentum slowing down slightly, their fans will probably take little interest.

The loss against Chelsea on Monday was one that left feelings of pride and resilience.

However, a punishing late defeat in the midlands was much more likely to create a sour taste.

Ange Postecoglou’s team started the game remarkably well despite all of their absentees.

But then soon played the game on the back foot against this impressive Gary O’Neil side.

Brennan Johnson’s action in front of goal should be seen as a big positive, however there was little else to latch onto for Spurs fans.

And whilst Paul Merson might be revelling in a switch in form, Tottenham fans will be confident of a strong comeback from this Wolves defeat.

Merson certainly enjoyed Tottenham’s late collapse at Wolves

Of course, Tottenham fans should probably take this reaction as a compliment.

Postecoglou’s side starting so well has clearly ruffled a lot of feathers among London clubs.

And had the side not suffered some incredibly bad fortune against Chelsea, they could easily still be unbeaten at the top of the league.

The challenge for Ange’s side will now be to react in the coming games.

Destiny Udogie’s return for the game against Aston Villa will be a big boost.

And although a central pairing of Eric Dier and Ben Davies did get some criticism yesterday, the latter did have some strong moments on return.

There’s no doubt that Postecoglou will still be able to get a tune out of his squad despite the quality they’ll be missing.

And the stick that Tottenham are now receiving from the likes of Merson, could actually galvanise this squad and project in the long run.
