Former Arsenal and England midfielder, Paul Merson, has slammed Spurs for reportedly looking into bringing Mauricio Pochettino back to the club.
Pochettino is one of a number of names being mentioned as a replacement for Jose Mourinho. His name is likely to be touted again, given Spurs’ apparent failure to bring in Antonio Conte.
The Argentinian coach is currently working in Paris with PSG. But there is talk he is already unhappy with life in France. PSG failed to win the title, while they were also beaten by Man City in Europe.

Pochettino is well-liked among the Spurs support. He led them to a Champions League final and top four finishes. However, his spell ended rather abruptly after a big dip in form.
And Merson, speaking in his column for the Daily Star, believes Spurs are being lazy if they appoint Pochettino again.
“Bringing back Pochettino would be a lazy appointment by Tottenham,” Merson said.
“Poch got the sack at Spurs for a reason. Most of the players who weren’t playing for him are still there. If you want a quick fix and a shot at a trophy, then you have to get Conte.”
Of course, Conte to Spurs now looks completely off. It leaves Daniel Levy more or less back to square one. Reports this morning have suggested he may go for Erik Ten Hag once again, with Pochettino also mentioned.
Merson has a point, Spurs would be back to the start with Pochettino
Some Tottenham fans might not want to hear it but Merson does have a point here in fairness.
Spurs are meant to have progressed and built on what Pochettino did. But this would just be going backwards and starting again in a way.
Merson is also right in that some of the players downed tools before. So what’s to say that wouldn’t happen again? The reality is Spurs need fresh ideas, a new face, and a change of direction.
