Paul Merson has given a positive verdict on Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe, who has discovered some decent form in the past few weeks.

The Gunners attacker has two goals in the last four Premier League games and has forced his way back into Mikel Arteta’s best XI.

He’s a left-footed winger that now has seven goals in 27 appearances this season, as well as three assists.

The North London club splashed out £72million (BBC) to sign him in the 2019 summer window and he’s fallen short of expectations so far, but shown he’s capable of spectacular individual moments.

Pepe, who earns £100,000-a-week (Spotrac), appears to be finding some consistency.

Merson has commented on the Ivory Coast international:

“Nicolas Pepe is right to be getting the games now as he looks a better player than when he arrived. It’s about seeing who’s going to be right for next season,” Merson told Sky Sports.

TBR’s View:

After investing so much into Pepe’s transfer, Arsenal will have hoped for more of a return so far.

But the 25-year-old has done enough for them so far to show he could still be an important player moving forward and that he could yet be a success at the Emirates Stadium.

He’ll be hoping to improve his tally of 15 goals in 69 appearances for the club and his end product needs to improve, but when he cuts onto his left foot he’s a serious threat.
