Paul Merson has responded to comments from Tottenham’s Harry Kane by suggesting they are a sign he wants to leave this summer.
Kane, who is still yet to a win a piece of silverware in his senior career, played during Spurs’ 1-0 defeat last weekend to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.
The 27-year-old has been regarded as one of the world’s very best strikers during recent years, but he can’t get over the line to win any team accolades.
He admitted earlier this week he’s mainly focused on winning trophies:
“The goal right now as a player is to win team trophies… I want to be winning the biggest team prizes. We’re not quite doing that,” Kane told Sky Sports.
After hearing Kane’s latest comments, Sky Sports pundit Merson is convinced the centre-forward wants to exit at the end of the season.
“The way I read into that is he will want to go. It’s a come and get me [plea],” Merson told Sky Sports’ Premier League channel (2:52pm, 1 May).

TBR’s View:
If Kane goes his entire winning any silverware, it would be a crying shame.
Spurs supporters are fearful that the England captain will want to depart in the summer, but surely none could begrudge him a move if he does push for one.
The centre-forward has 31 goals in 44 games across all competitions this season, and is surely worth an astronomical amount in the current transfer market.
Spurs are still competing to try finish in the Champions League positions this season, which perhaps will prove crucial when it comes to the futures of their star players who want to perform on the elite stage.
