Paul Merson has explained he’s a huge admirer of Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli and is predicting that he will be a “superstar” in the future.
The 18-year-old is already making quite the impression during his first season at the Emirates Stadium and looks a star in the making.
Martinelli has already scored 10 goals in 23 senior games across all competitions this campaign and has become a regular in the side under manager Mikel Arteta.
The Brazilian teenager netted a stunning solo effort in a Premier League draw away to rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and isn’t afraid of the big stage.
He is a versatile attacker that is a centre-forward by trade, but has forced his way into Arsenal’s senior plans as a left-winger and he’s still providing a serious goal threat.
Sky Sports pundit and ex-Gunners forward Merson is confident that Arsenal’s Martinelli has a massive future.
“I like him good player, he could be a top player. I can’t talk highly enough,” Merson told The Debate Show on Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (10:22pm, 10 February).
“You’ve only got to look at his goal against Chelsea, he’s run the length of the pitch and he’s still got to beat the goalkeeper. I’m a big fan of his it’s all about timings. Martinelli he’ll be a superstar.”

TBR’s View:
Martinelli already looks hugely mature beyond his years and that’s a major sign that he’s going to be an elite player moving forward.
It’s surprised many how big of an impact he’s made in the first-team this season and he’s quickly managed to adapt to the pace of English football.
Arsenal appear to have hit the jackpot with the £6million (Goal) signing of Martinelli, but they are going to need several more additions in the next couple of transfers windows to get them back competing near the top end of the league table.
