Paul Merson has raved about the quality of Leeds United star Patrick Bamford, who he claims has a “little bit of arrogance” to his game.
Bamford, 27, went into this Premier League season with plenty of question marks from Whites supporters about whether he could be their main frontman.
But the £35,000-a-week (Spotrac) striker has responded emphatically.
He’s now scored 14 goals and supplied seven assists in just 29 league appearances this campaign.
Bamford was instrumental last night in Leeds’ 2-1 victory away to Fulham, opening the scoring with a low left-footed finish, as well as assisting Raphinha with a through ball.
Many felt that he should have earned a first international call-up this month with England, and pundit Merson suggests the decision not to include him was a mistake by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
“If Harry Kane isn’t playing he (Bamford) has a presence,” Merson told Sky Sports, as quoted by Football Daily.
“He brings people into the game. He’s got a little bit of arrogance about him as well that I don’t think you’d put him into the England set-up and he’d be looking around sheepish.”

TBR’s View:
Bamford is a well spoken player off the pitch and his work-rate proves he’s got a great attitude.
His form though this season gives him every right to feel confident, and even arrogant at times.
He’s a centre-forward whose all-round game looks so complete right now with everything he does in the final third, but his job will be trying to extend that over a two or three year spell.
