Arsenal take on Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday, and Paul Merson has revealed his prediction for the game.

We have a three-horse race for the Premier League title for the first time in years. Arsenal are on top of the table at the moment, above both Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Gunners leapfrogged their two rivals to become league leaders after City and Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier this month.

Now, Liverpool will watch on as Arsenal and Manchester City battle it out at the Etihad on Sunday. It is going to be a fascinating game.

Paul Merson predicts Manchester City vs Arsenal result

Manchester City have been the superior side in head-to-heads against Arsenal in recent years, but the Gunners seem to have turned things around.

Mikel Arteta got the better of Pep Guardiola in the Community Shield back in August. Arsenal then beat City in the Premier League in October thanks to a late winner from Gabriel Martinelli.

The North Londoners are the in-form side in the country right now, and they will go into the game on Sunday with the confidence to get a good result.

Paul Merson has claimed that he believes Arsenal have a chance to get something from the game if Manchester City’s injured players don’t return.

However, if Guardiola fields a full-strength eleven, the pundit thinks Arteta will end up on the losing side.

Merson wrote on Sportskeeda: “If Kyle Walker and John Stones don’t play, I don’t see Arsenal not getting a result here. If all the players are fit for City, they will win this, because they just turn up and win big football matches. This result will hinge on the fitness of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Walker and Stones.

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves – the Gunners are still well behind City in terms of overall quality, because it is scary how good Pep Guardiola’s side can be when they are on song. They ve won 19 and drawn three since last tasting defeat against Aston Villa in December. That’s what Arsenal are up against.”

Predicting the result, Merson added: “This is the match of the weekend. The goal difference between the two sides is massive right now. If Arsenal win this game, they go four points clear of City and with that goal difference, it could prove to be decisive in the title race.

“Both teams are evenly matched at the moment, however, and we could see a draw in this match. 1-1.”

Manchester City suffer big blow just before Arsenal clash

The international break seems to have come at the wrong time for both Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Gunners were on a roll before domestic football came to a pause. They had won eight Premier League games in a row with an aggregate score of 33-5.

City, on the other hand, weren’t on a bad run either, but the international break has handed them a big blow.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in his press conference that John Stones and Kyle Walker have both suffered injuries and are ruled out of the game against Arsenal tomorrow.

So, if Merson’s assessment is right, Arsenal will definitely get something out of the game at the Etihad. However, City are still incredibly strong and are more than capable of getting the job done.
