Paul Merson has claimed that Tottenham player would leave if Harry Kane left

Paul Merson has claimed Heung-Min Son would follow Harry Kane through the exit doors if the latter left Tottenham at the end of the season.

Kane, who has publicly admitted he wants an honest conversation with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about his future, is being heavily linked with a transfer this summer.

The Mirror has claimed that the 27-year-old has his heart set on a move to Manchester City, but there is also interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in him.

If you’re an England supporter, you’d be a little concerned that the Three Lions captain is at the heart of a massive transfer saga going into the European Championship this summer.

Merson has predicted that Kane’s potential exit would crush Spurs.

Celtic strike Premier Sports deal - is this the "additional value" we've been waiting for?

He’s also convinced that Son would follow in Kane’s footsteps out of north London.

“Even if Spurs get £120million for Kane and spend it well, I still don’t know how you replace his 22 goals and 13 assists this season. It would leave a massive hole – and you can guarantee Heung-min Son would be next out the door,” Merson wrote for the Daily Star.

TBR’s View:

Kane has scored 32 goals in all competitions this season, 22 coming in the Premier League, so any departure would be massive.

There can be a strong case made though that teammate Son is the other truly world-class player that Spurs have in their ranks.

If Kane goes, there is no way they can let his attacking partner leave in the same window.

28-year-old South Korean winger Son is within his own right a massive figure at the club, scoring 22 goals and setting up 17 assists across all competitions this season.
