Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has showered praise on Jurgen Klopp and doesn’t feel his Liverpool side gets enough respect for their achievements.
Merson feels Klopp is so good that he could go to Rotherham – who are currently top of League 1 – and get them into the Premier League.
He said: “This is a phenomenal football team, who I don’t think get the credit they should. I’m a great lover of Jurgen Klopp.
“I could use any team here, but Klopp could go to Rotherham and take them to the Premier League in time.
“He’s that good. He gets players in and plays them the right way. Pep Guardiola’s record is great, but every player is £80m, £90m in every position.
“Why are Liverpool not favourites to win the Champions League? They’ve been at two straight finals. Manchester City haven’t even looked like winning it, and they are favourites.
“I don’t think Liverpool get the respect they should get; this is the best team in Europe by some distance.”

TBR’s View – Liverpool’s league lead should allow them to focus on Champions League
Merson’s mention of the Champions League is interesting.
Last term, it was incredible that Liverpool kept up a frightening pace in the Premier League and navigated the Champions League too.
This year, they should have the title sewn up by the time the serious business in Europe starts.
That should allow them to rest players in the league – like the top sides in other European leagues tend to do – and gives them a huge chance of retaining that European crown.
