Paul Merson has explained he fears West Ham are right in the Premier League relegation scrap and is suggesting that manager Manuel Pellegrini departs.
The Hammers currently sit 17th in the table ahead of their Saturday fixture at home to Leicester City and there is so much for them to improve on.
Pellegrini’s side sit just a point above the relegation places as it stands and have won only five of their 18 league games so far.
They were beaten away to Crystal Palace at the weekend and it seems to be one step forward two steps back at the moment.
Pundit Merson doesn’t believe Pellegrini is the right man in charge at the London Stadium and claims they need change.
“West Ham look for all the world like a team in major trouble and I don’t think the manager is right for them at all. Looking at the table they are right up against it,” Merson told the Daily Star.
“West Ham have spent a lot of money and the owners can’t be happy with Manuel Pellegrini. This is not what they were promised.
“The relegation battle is becoming a four-horse race between West Ham, Watford, Aston Villa and Norwich.
“I worry for West Ham. Something has to change for them, and fast.”

TBR’s View:
There is no doubt that West Ham’s current group are underperforming and there is no way they should be in the conversation for relegation with the players they have.
It will be no surprise to see them pull clear in the second half of the campaign and edge towards a mid-table finish, but that isn’t enough considering the money spent.
Pellegrini was tasked at the beginning of the 2018’19 campaign of getting the club around the European spots and the proof is that they have regressed.
