Paul Merson has explained his concern over Tottenham moving into their new stadium and believes they will standstill if they don’t sign anyone in the summer.
Spurs kicked off their time in their new stadium with a 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace and five of their final six league games are at home.
The North London club are currently in pole position to finish inside the top four and are also in the Champions League quarter-finals, but it could all still derail if they finish poorly.
Sky Sports pundit Merson has claimed though that a new stadium doesn’t make Spurs a big club and they need to end their 11-year trophy drought.
“Tottenham’s new stadium looks lovely, but does it make them a big team? No. Not even close,” Merson told the Daily Star.
“Spurs need to buy players this summer or they will finish where they do this year. That’s the problem for Mauricio Pochettino.
“I don’t think the new ground is an advantage for them at all. It’s going to take them a lot of getting used to.”

TBR’s View:
Spurs’ impressive stadium could be a boost for them in the remaining games of the season if they pick up some momentum, but the pressure will build if they struggle.
Merson’s hit the nail on the head when it comes to signing players, as Pochettino needs to be backed in the summer despite the investment that has gone into the stadium.
They have a talented group of players that need to get over the line for silverware and it may take one more marquee addition to achieve it next season.
