Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson feels the situation at Tottenham has gone stale and does not expect manager Mauricio Pochettino to still be at the club at the start of next season.
As per Sky Sports, Merson has had his say on whether the Argentine can take the club any further than he has after the 2-1 defeat against Leicester.
He said: “Do I think Pochettino will be there next season? No. I don’t want to say get rid of Pochettino and everything’s right, but it’s just gone sour there. With everybody, the whole thing needs changing. They’re a good team, who are not going to win the league – once again.
“I’m not saying get rid of the manager, but everything’s getting a bit monotonous now. hHe’s a brilliant manager. But it’s a long time – he’s doing the same thing every week, the same voice. Are the players getting comfortable?”

TBR’s View – Pochettino is the most important man for Tottenham to keep
Pochettino has kept Tottenham moving forward when Daniel Levy wouldn’t pay for new players and kept an impressive squad together even though they all know they could earn more elsewhere.
They may also have a greater chance of trophies elsewhere – I’m sure plenty of them have looked at Kyle Walker enviously – but Pochettino is the man who has fostered a new higher level of expectation.
Tottenham’s squad could go through major surgery soon. Plenty of contract situations are ticking time bombs. But if Pochettino stays at the club, the fans might expect certain stars to stay and their manager to find solutions for the rest.
Without Pochettino, it’s back to square one. Would the likes of Harry Kane commit to another manager? If Merson is right and the relationship between the players and the manager has gone stale, it’s the players who need changing.
