Former Arsenal and England attacker Paul Merson has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s start to the season. The Sky Sports pundit discussed Mauricio Pochettino’s recent comments about unrest at the club and it is clear he feels there is trouble brewing at Spurs.
Writing in his weekly column for Sky Sports, Merson suggested Pochettino’s out-of-character comments suggest behind the scenes woe.
“Pochettino’s comments that he has never seen so much unrest at a football club the other day were concerning and eye-opening.
“He doesn’t normally speak so strongly, he always looks after the club’s interests and gets on with the job at hand. But his comment suggests things are unravelling at the moment.”
TBR’s View
Of course, Merson, an Arsenal legend, will want to poke holes in Tottenham Hotspur – especially in the lead up to a North London derby.
However, it is clear not all is well at Tottenham Hotspur.
There is the unrest over Christian Eriksen’s future whilst the continued absence of Jan Vertonghen has certainly been called into question. The club failed to bring in a new striker after the loss of Fernando Llorente and the same goes for right-back with Kieran Trippier.

Danny Rose was seemingly on his way until Tottenham could not find a buyer and it seems to be impacting their performances on the pitch.
Tottenham had to scrap for a win over Aston Villa, miraculously drew with Manchester City after being dominated for 90 minutes and then lost 1-0 to relegation favourites Newcastle United at the weekend.
Tottenham fans will no doubt hope whatever is going on behind the scenes can be sorted and fast. At this rate, Pochettino’s men are going to be out of the title race before the end of the month.
