‘Paul McStay-like’, ‘different class’: Some Celtic fans blown away by Bhoy’s display today

A number of Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to hail Callum McGregor’s latest performance for Neil Lennon’s Hoops.

Celtic made it five consecutive Premiership wins on Saturday – and went top of the table – as they ran out 3-2 winners over Livingston at Parkhead in a nervy game.

The Bhoys fell behind to Jason Holt’s 16th-minute penalty after Kristoffer Ajer’s handball, but were level just four minutes later through McGregor’s fine strike from the edge of the box.

The 27-year-old was also involved in the build-up to the second goal three minutes later, his well-timed pass putting in Greg Taylor, who then provided a fine assist for Ryan Christie.

Albian Ajeti added a third for Celtic with a superb finish in the 52nd minute, but Julien Serrano’s impressive strike 12 minutes from time set up a nervy finish.

The Hoops certainly didn’t make it easy for themselves but the three points is all that counts, and the pressure is now on Rangers as they head to Hibernian for Sunday’s 12pm kickoff.

Aside from his goal and role in the second, McGregor was superb throughout the match, linking midfield and attack seamlessly.

 

And his display certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Celtic fans, who sang their player’s praises on social media:
