It cannot be too long before Paul Glatzel and Bobby Duncan receive their first-team call-ups if they continue to improve at this rate.
Duncan has already trained with the first-team, while Glatzel signed his first professional contract recently.
And both players showed exactly why they are so highly rated as they helped Liverpool’s under-18 side cruise to victory in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final.
Glatzel’s brace and Duncan’s late goal helped Liverpool to a 5-1 win over Bury at Gigg Lane to set up a semi-final tie against Watford.
And the attacking duo’s three goals took their combined tally to 51 for the season (Glatzel 26, Duncan 25), which is a stunning total for just two players.
Duncan joined Liverpool – his boyhood club – last summer and is thriving in his new environment.
The England under-17 starlet is the cousin of ex-Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and he will be hoping to emulate his relative’s success at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Glatzel is performing well for the under-23s after recently making the transition from the under-18 side.
The step up has not fazed the Germany youth international, who has continued to find the net at a higher level.
The 2018/19 season is probably too soon for Duncan and Glatzel to step up to senior football, especially with Liverpool competing for the title.
But Jurgen Klopp cannot ignore their latest masterclass in the academy; he will be well aware of these two exciting teenagers.
