Paul Cook has admitted, in comments reported by Leeds Live, that he would like to see Leeds United promoted this season, insisting that their fans deserve to see the Whites go up.
Cook’s Wigan Athletic were responsible for putting a big dent in Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s promotion hopes at the weekend.

Leeds had 19 attempts on goal compared to Wigan’s five (via Whoscored). But it was a freak own goal from Pablo Hernandez that decided the game at Elland Road.
Wigan – who remain in the bottom three – have won twice at Elland Road in the last year. But Cook is seemingly hoping that Leeds will still have enough to get across the line this season.

“I would really like to wish Leeds well. They’re a fantastic club. Like every big club I really hope it goes well for the supporters because these fans are such strong supporters,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live.
“They deserve the success and I really hope that success comes this year for them.”
TBR View – Wigan result cannot define Leeds’s season again
Leeds’s task is to now prove that a defeat to Wigan is not going to be a defining moment in their season once again this term.
Despite the success, the Latics’ victory during the last campaign is one of the most talked about games from Bielsa’s tenure.
Leeds were 1-0 up and had a numerical advantage against Cook’s men with Cedric Kipre being sent off. But Wigan produced a stunning turnaround to snatch the initiative in the automatic-promotion race away from the Whites.
Leeds remain in pole position to finish in the top two this season. They are three points clear of the chasing pack.
But with three defeats in their last four and familiar problems rearing their head, you could certainly understand why some of the Elland Road faithful are becoming nervous.
