Rangers must think twice about any move for Darren Bent given Paul Clement’s comments about the striker last month.
As reported on by multiple outlets on Tuesday, Bent has said he would ‘100% sign for Rangers’.
The veteran striker was released by Derby County at the end of last season and is currently searching for a new club.

Bent has been training with Burton Albion since the summer, which is the team he spent the second half of last season on loan with.
Albion boss Nigel Clough has reportedly offered Bent a pay-as-you-play contract, but it would appear he is considering his options at this moment in time.
Bent wants Rangers move
Speaking to talkSPORT, the 34-year-old said of a possible move to Ibrox: “100 per cent!
“You’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in football in Rangers. To get the opportunity to go up there and play – definitely!”
The development has received a mixed reaction from Gers fans.

Some would welcome the move since Bent has a ‘poacher’s instinct’ and played for many years in the Premier League, but others believe that, at 34, he is definitely finished.
Whether Rangers actually would be interested in Bent remains to be seen at present.
At the moment manager Steven Gerrard has Alfredo Morelos, Kyle Lafferty and Umar Sadiq at his disposal.
Clement on Bent
Perhaps Bent’s signing would be a bad idea following what Clement said about him on Twitter last month.
Clement was in charge of Derby County in 2015. Bent criticised his coaching, saying it would be ‘inevitable’ Clement would crumble.
Clement hit back at his comments last month very publicly on Twitter. He said (as quoted by the Scottish Sun): “I sense some bitterness here, which is normal if a player does not play much.
“It is never a difficult decision to leave out a player who is overweight and lazy.”

One of the great things about Gerrard’s Rangers team is the work rate and generally high fitness levels.
To make a move for someone who has been described as the total opposite would perhaps be a silly move.
Clearly there was some bad blood between Clement and Bent, but the ‘lazy’ adjective in particular must set alarm bells ringing for Gerrard if he had any loose desires to sign the forward.
