Patryk Klimala scored his first goal in Celtic colours on Thursday evening as Celtic rescued a draw in their opening Veolia Trophy fixture against French side OGC Nice – and he has posted on Instagram.
Klimala, 21, joined Celtic in January for a fee of £3.4million after scoring 11 goals in 50 games for Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok – alongside Cillian Sheridan. He signed a contract until the summer of 2024.
However, the Poland youth international managed just four appearances for Celtic during the second half of the season – failing to score for Neil Lennon’s side. He is one of a number of new signings yet to make a mark.
Similarly, Vakoun Bayo and Ismaila Soro joined for substantial fees but are yet to impress. However, Klimala showed signs that he is more than capable of scoring goals against decent opposition on Thursday night.
He equalised after Kasper Dolberg gave Nice the lead in the first half after dancing past Christopher Jullien, James Forrest and Kris Ajer. With Nice edging towards a 1-0 win, Klimala struck.
Many will label Celtic’s equaliser a mistake from goalkeeper Teddy Boulhendi, but Klimala’s hunger saw him close down the Nice stopper and tap home. The Pole posted on Instagram after netting, with a four-word verdict.
